in all senses, in every sense
  • What the prisoner said was a lie in all senses.
  • What the prisoner said was a lie in every sense of the word.
  • common sense, common knowledge, general knowledge
  • Every man of common sense will not make such stupid mistake.
  • It is a common knowledge among our teachers that they will soon have a rise in their salaries.

  • sense, emotion, feeling, passion, sensation
  • Fire gives a sensation of warmth.
  • I don't like to hurt his feeling.
  • She lost her reason in consequence of a violent emotion caused by a fire.
  • Our moral sense controls passion.
  • He had some feeling for hope.
  • The new invention has created a great sensation.
  • sense, implication, meaning, significance
  • She smiled with the implication that she didn't believe him.
  • Some words have as many as twenty senses〔means〕.

There is no sense to do the experiment again.

There is no sense in doing the experiment again.

there is no sense in v -ing的意思是“做某事没有意思的”,是固定搭配, in v -ing 不可改为不定式。

There is some sense to what he says.

There is some sense in what he says.

There is no sense to it.
